How

we met

“ It was the Summer of 2020. The Pandemic was in full swing, and everyone was cooped up working from home and trying to stay sane.

Tara had just ended her first year at the Tuck School of Business, and had started her summer internship at Bungie (a dream come true!) on their Product Management team. At the same time, Frank had just graduated from Ross School of Business, and had been working at Bungie since the Fall of 2019 at Bungie (also his dream job!).

When Tara and Frank first met at Bungie, it was across screens on a video call: two MBAs navigating an industry where their degrees were deemed essentially useless (sick). Initially, they started off acquaintances: Frank sharing tips and tricks on how to navigate the industry as an MBA Student, and Tara…just happy to be there.

As the days passed, Tara and Frank grew closer, trading stories of their life on the East Coast, their love of Destiny 2

(the game Bungie makes), and scrutinizing models (in Excel, obvs). By the end of her internship, Tara would miss Frank, just as much as she missed that he had a little crush on her.

But Frank persevered. Despite Tara taking the end of her internship as the end of her time with Frank, Frank still reached out. In October of 2020, he made a childhood dream of hers come true: a screenshot of her name in Destiny 2’s game credits.

That was the catalytic moment when Tara and Frank went from being friends to something more. After that text, they started messaging every day, calling periodically, and video chatting when they could; all of which crystalized into scheduling a meeting in Bellevue, Washington where they met for the first time in person and ended up in a committed relationship by the end of weekend.

And well, I guess it was Destiny.
